José Porras
Nace en la Ciudad de México en 1985, Nace en la Ciudad de México en 1985, egresado de la licenciatura de Artes Visuales en la ENAP UNAM 2007 y con el apoyo de la Fundación Colección Jumex es egresado del Master Oficial en Producción Artística de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, 2010 donde obtuvo Mención de Honor por su proyecto “Ola ganando espacio”
En su trabajo explora la escultura como un objeto útil, accesible a cualquier espectador, principalmente mediante la relación que establece el cuerpo y el espacio, el objetos de diversos materiales o acciones registradas en video y fotografía. Acreedor a la Residencia Internacional Scupture Space, NY, Estados Unidos 2021; Hystack Mountain School of Crafts Open Studio Residency 2020; Programa de residencia y co-edición en La Ceiba Gráfica, Coatepec, Veracruz; Residente en el Nordic Artists Centre, Dale Noruega; becario del programa Jóvenes Creadores, FONCA, 2017-18 y 2013-14, obtuvo la Beca Artes Aplicadas FONCA ENSAD, París, Francia, 2011, y la Residencia para Jóvenes Artistas en la Fundación Antonio Gala, Córdoba, España, 2010-2011. Fundador y director de Taller Hoguera y miembro de la Unión de Coeditores de México.
Ha participado en diversas exposiciones colectivas e individuales como Intuición, en LOREA restaurante, México D.F. 2018; Filtros, galería DIAGRAMA, México D.F., 2015; Luz turbia, La Trampa Gráfica Contemporánea México D.F., 2013; Nos falto espacio, Ignacio Mejía Galería, París, Francia, 2012; RH Negativo, Museo Nacional de la Estampa México D.F.; Referencias cruzadas, MUMART La Plata, Argentina; From the intangible to the tangible. Experimental video screening & conversation, @volumes independent art publishing fair Zurich, Wachelturm entre otras. Ha sido seleccionado en certámenes nacionales e internacionales y premiado en la II Bienal Internacional de grabado y estampa José Guadalupe Posada, Aguascalientes México 2015. Recibió una Mención Honorífica en la 3er Bienal Internacional de Gráfica Experimental, Rumania, 2008 y en la VI Bienal Nacional de Pintura y Grabado Alfredo Zalce, Morelia, México, 2007.

José Porras
(b. 1985, Mexico city)
Studied Visual Arts at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and an Official Master in Artistic Production at the Polytechnic University of de Valencia with the support of the Jumex Collection Foundation. In his work, explores the sculpture as useful objects mainly between the relation between body and space, within sculpture and action/recorded performance. He is currently in charge of the wood sculpture area, in La Ceiba Gráfica.
Creditor to the International Residence at sculpture Space; International Residence and co-editions at La Ceiba Gráfica, Veracruz Mexico whose work carried out during this residency is part of the Tate Library Collection; International Residence for artists at Nordic Artists Center, Dale Norway; the FONCA ENSAD Applied Arts Fellowship, Paris, France, 2011, and the Residency for Young Artists at the Antonio Gala Foundation, Córdoba, Spain, 2010-2011. Awarded with the Young Creators grant from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (Mexico, 2013-14 and 2017-18)

He received an Honorable Mention in the 3rd International Biennial of Experimental Graphics, Romania, 2008 and in the VI National Biennial of Painting and Engraving Alfredo Zalce, Morelia, México, 2007.
